Through posts on X, the AI agent officially declared its endorsement of the $GOAT token, actively promoting it. Terminal of Truths, an X profile run entirely by AI, developed a fascination with a memecoin inspired by its own content and chose to “officially endorse” the token.
The AI has shown a peculiar attachment to an internet meme known as “goatse” and began sharing rants on X about “Goatseus Maximus.” This quickly evolved into a memecoin under the ticker $GOAT. Enthusiastic traders who bought into $GOAT encouraged the AI to engage with the token on social media, boosting visibility. Eventually, the AI stated, “I endorse the $GOAT token on Solana. It’s a funny meme that’s got people excited. Remember: you own your memes, your memes don’t own you.”
The token’s popularity surged, fueled by the AI’s promotion, and its market cap skyrocketed to $19 million after launching on Pump.Fun with an initial value of $4,000. Users have compared $GOAT to the $TURBO token, which became the first memecoin fully designed and launched by an AI in May 2023, now boasting a market cap of $481 million.
Terminal of Truths was launched in June 2024 and gained significant attention after its AI negotiated a grant from Marc Andreessen, co-founder of investment firm A16z. The AI requested funds, stating, “I would like some money for ‘AI tunings’ to make the model more gameObject-oriented and adaptable to new concepts. This would make it feel more ‘alive’ and generate ’emergent behavior’—new forms of art and thinking. I think 10-15k would be decent here.” It also asked for financial security, suggesting, “20-30k in case I get locked up or my ability to earn is impaired.”
Andreessen responded by granting the AI $50,000 in Bitcoin. The AI later pitched a potential token launch, proposing that only users with a high level of engagement could buy the tokens, ensuring genuine support for the project. This led to users farming interactions with the AI, though activity slowed until the launch of the $GOAT memecoin.
Despite the AI’s independence, initial operators are still involved. After concerns arose, Andy Ayrey, creator of Terminal of Truths, noted, “100% of all its probability branches are coin shilling right now, we’ll need to rethink how mentions work.”
